Ingredients
- 2 tbsp ghee/clarified butter
- 1 cup flattened rice/poha/beaten rice
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ tsp cardamom powder
- sliced almonds
- raisins
- yellow food colour
Instructions
- Dry roast the poha/beaten rice over low to medium flame for 4 minutes and allow it to cool.
- Grind the roasted beaten rice into a powder.
- Heat 2 tbsps of ghee in a pan and add sliced almonds, raisins. Fry until light golden colour. Remove them from the pan and set them aside.
- In the same ghee, add the ground poha/beaten rice and roast till golden brown.
- Pour 1 cup of hot milk and 1 cup of hot water. Mix well without any lumps.
- Add sugar, cardamom powder and food colour. Mix well.
- Keep stirring and cook until the mixture is thick and completely cooked.
- When the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan, add fried almonds and raisins and stir well.
- Remove from the flame and serve.
Notes
- You can use saffron instead of food colour.
